Why is the recruitment cdcfib thing so strict about applying to just one agency, even though a lot of people probably qualify for several? Isn't that kinda unfair to people who want more chances?

I've thought about this a lot, especially since it's hard to choose just one option when you're job hunting. The reason the recruitment cdcfib board (Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board) only allows you to apply to one agency is honestly to stop people from gaming the system and to keep things fair for everyone.

Think about it, if someone could apply to all four – Correctional Service, Immigration Service, Fire Service, and Civil Defence – then they'd take up multiple slots in the shortlisting phase. It'd be like having the same person filling out four raffle tickets when everyone else only gets one! That'd definitely mess up the statistics and block out others who are just as qualified but only put in one application.

I've seen people get super annoyed by this rule, but I kinda get why they're doing it. The board just wants to make sure more people have a fair shot at the jobs, considering over 30,000 spots are up for grabs. If you know you’re really set on one career, you just have to pick the agency that fits most with your skills. I wish there was a way to do backup choices, but for now, that's just the rule.

Seriously, just pick where you’d actually want to work most and go hard for that one. I know it feels like a risk but that’s what everyone’s dealing with too!

By limiting applicants to one agency, they can ensure that candidates aren't submitting multiple applications, which can clog up the system and waste resources.

If someone is serious about working with an agency, they'll be committed to that one opportunity. Applying to multiple agencies might suggest a lack of genuine interest

On the other Hand allowing applicants to apply to multiple agencies gives them more chances to succeed and increases diversity in the recruitment pool.

If someone applies to multiple agencies, they're taking up a spot that could go to someone else who is genuinely interested in that one opportunity.

Sometimes I Candidates might have different priorities or preferences, and limiting to one agency doesn't account for these individual differences.

The CDCFIB is strict about applying to just one agency to ensure fairness and efficiency in the recruitment process. By limiting applicants to one agency, they can:

  • Prevent multiple applications: This rule helps prevent candidates from applying to multiple agencies, which could lead to confusion and unfair advantages.
  • Streamline the selection process: By focusing on one agency, the selection committee can thoroughly evaluate each candidate's qualifications and suitability for that specific role.
  • Maintain merit-based selection: This approach ensures that positions are filled based on merit, rather than applicants trying to game the system by applying to multiple agencies.

Additionally, applying to multiple agencies could lead to:

  • Conflicting requirements: Each agency has unique requirements, and applying to multiple agencies might lead to conflicting qualifications or documentation.
  • Diluted focus: Spreading applications across multiple agencies might dilute a candidate's focus and chances of success.
