I've noticed California gets a lot of protests, and honestly, it's almost like it's part of the culture here. I remember walking near my high school in LA last year and seeing people marching for environmental stuff. Lately, it feels like there are even more, and now it's not just about climate, but also social issues, politics, whatever matters to people. What's wild is that it's not just in front of government buildings; even places like banks and universities, like Banco of California and UCLA, have seen closures or changes in how they work for the day. It really shows how public movements can impact regular businesses and even something as normal as going to your bank.
From what my uncle told me (he works in downtown LA), sometimes banks close early or switch to online only for the day just to keep everyone safe. I guess the freedom to speak out is super valued here, but it does make you think about how it affects everyone else. It's almost like the government is constantly trying to balance keeping people safe and letting everyone have their voice. California is honestly a magnet for new ideas and loud opinions, so protests just seem to happen here more, and everyone kind of expects it.
