Honestly, seeing Akin Alabi become the Jagun Olubadan made me kinda question if these titles mean anything real for politicians. Like, yeah, it's cool and everyone on social media is talking about it, but does it actually help him do his job as a lawmaker?

From what I’ve seen, traditional titles in Nigeria are sometimes just a way for politicians to say hey, I’m important and the people love me. They get more popularity, maybe some bragging rights, and sometimes it can boost their status in the eyes of regular folks or elders who care about all that cultural stuff. But I also feel like with guys my age, it doesn’t really matter. I remember seeing news like this before and nothing really changed for anyone in the community. Sometimes, politicians just use it for more media attention or to flex, but it doesn't mean they’re suddenly better lawmakers.

So yeah, Akin Alabi getting the Jagun Olubadan title probably helps his image and might win him some more older supporters, but in my opinion, it’s more about tradition and showing off than fixing real issues. If he uses the popularity for something good, then maybe it’s worth it, but usually it’s just a fancy celebration.
