Well, Godwin Emefiele just couldn’t get his forfeited housing estate back because the court said he had enough time and notice to argue his side but just didn’t respond fast enough. Even though Emefiele said the government basically hid the announcement in a weird spot in the newspaper and that he was distracted with other court stuff, the judge didn’t buy it. The court decided the government followed the basic legal steps and that Emefiele missed his chance to speak up about the estate in time.
I've seen this kind of thing happen before where people say, "That’s not fair! I didn’t know," but apparently the law is all about whether the right boxes get checked. If the notice is technically published like the law says (even if no one actually sees it), then it counts. I kinda think it’s harsh, but that's how it goes sometimes. So yeah, in the end, it was the timing and that whole legal notice thing that stopped him from getting the estate back, no matter how unfair it might have seemed to him or anyone else. Makes you want to read the fine print on all legal stuff, honestly.
