Honestly, when I first heard that Nicolas Cage was playing John Madden and Christian Bale was Al Davis, I thought it sounded totally random. But after seeing some early photos, it's kinda wild how they managed to look so much like the real guys. Both these actors are famous for totally losing themselves in their roles, so I guess that's the point. The director, David O. Russell, apparently wanted big, intense actors who could really show what sorta larger-than-life personalities Madden and Davis had. Plus, people get pumped anytime big names like Cage and Bale work together—I'm definitely curious if Cage can really capture that grumpy, goofy Madden vibe or if Bale can nail Davis’s swagger. I remember thinking Christian Bale in American Hustle was so different from Batman, so maybe he’ll surprise us again. If nothing else, having these two together is gonna get a lot more people talking about football history, even if they don’t care at all about the NFL. That’s kinda cool if you ask me!
