I’ve always heard from people who see Patti LaBelle that her concerts are never what you expect, and I totally get why. She’s honestly famous for doing random stuff during her shows—like tossing her shoes, talking right to the crowd, or changing the setlist right in the middle. My friend went to see her last year and she said LaBelle just started singing someone else’s song because a fan yelled out a request, and it sounded better than the original. Reviewers talk about how she’s always super interactive, not just singing but sharing little stories, sometimes even making the band play something totally new. I think that keeps her concerts extra exciting, because you never know what she’s going to do next. It's the opposite of those super scripted huge pop concerts. For me, that's what makes her shows legendary—you get to see Patti being real, not just putting on the same act every night.
