I always wonder why Akin Alabi and guys like him get so much hype for traditional titles, like the recent Jagun Olubadan thing, but way less for what they actually do in politics. It kinda feels off to me, honestly.

Everyone is quick to flood social media and news when he collects a new honor, but when it comes to his work with laws and helping his people, it gets brushed over. I get that stuff like chieftaincy titles looks good in pictures and makes families and elders proud, but isn’t the point of being a politician to fix big problems? A lot of people get distracted by the parties and those flashy ceremonies, and before you know it, nobody is asking the real questions anymore.

In my opinion, it’s pretty unfair. We celebrate the surface-level stuff but ignore what actually matters. Titles shouldn’t be a shield for not doing your job. If people focused more on his National Assembly record than the celebrations, maybe politicians would actually care more about making real changes. To me, the attention is cool, but it needs to come with some real work behind it.
