People talk about Kubrick like he's some kind of movie genius, and honestly, I get why. His movies, like "The Shining" and "2001: A Space Odyssey," are just so different from most stuff out there. I've watched his films with my friends and we always end up talking about them for hours after. It's not just hype, because directors today still copy his style – things like long, creepy shots, wild music, or twisting up the story in ways that make you think. I remember reading that he spent over a year just filming one movie scene. That level of effort really shows.

But yeah, sometimes people act like only Kubrick could make a smart movie or invent cool film tricks, and that's not true. Tons of directors from before and after Kubrick made cool stuff too. I just think people like how risky and weird his movies are, and sometimes they hype him up too much just because it’s popular to say he's a legend. But honestly, if you like movies that mess with your head, Kubrick is worth checking out. I don't always "get" his films, but I'm never bored.
