People seriously care about Kayode Peters even after his death because he was like one of those rare filmmakers and producers who made a real difference in Nollywood. I’ve seen a lot of actors and producers come and go, but honestly, he was everywhere, and his stuff like Twilight Zone and Flatmates gave me some of my best laughs growing up. It’s not just the projects he worked on; it’s the way he made people feel, like he brought a certain vibe to Nigerian TV and movies that everyone got hooked on.
I think people are so emotional about him because it’s not every day that someone who shaped the direction of Nigerian entertainment just suddenly isn’t there anymore. His death, especially it being so sudden and right after celebrating something happy like a wedding anniversary, just hits harder. Fans and even other celebrities keep sharing stories about how he helped people start their careers or inspired them to try acting or producing. So, yeah, it’s like losing a really creative and encouraging friend to the whole industry. It just shows how much one person can impact a bunch of people, even if you never met him in real life. If you ever loved a good Nollywood comedy, you probably have Kayode Peters to thank for at least some of those good times.
