Honestly, I always look forward to when the fg declares public holidays, especially for stuff like Eid. When those holidays happen, it honestly just feels like freedom. Most people, including me, end up changing our whole schedule. Like, even if you’re not Muslim, there’s suddenly all this free time. My friends and I use it to chill, play football, or set up last-minute gaming tournaments. Some people even take these days to try new hobbies—like my cousin, who picked up cooking during last year’s Sallah break, just because he was bored at home.

But it’s also true that a lot of people just use it for extra sleep or catching up on schoolwork, rather than anything super special. For families celebrating Eid, it’s about prayers and visiting, but for everyone else, it’s just like bonus time. I think it honestly does change what people do, even if they aren’t into the holiday itself. So yeah, the whole hobbies and leisure scene gets a surprise upgrade whenever the fg declares public holidays, and I totally enjoy the break!
