So honestly, seeing all the news about the social security retirement age hitting 67 for people born in 1960 or after is kinda wild to me. My mom always talked about how her FRA was 65, and now for my uncle who was born later, it's 67. Basically, if you were born in 1960 or later, you're stuck with the new rules. What sucks is, if you claim at 62 like so many people want to, your monthly social security benefit gets cut by like 30 percent! That's a ton, especially if you were counting on that money.

I've talked to my grandpa about it and he thinks it's kinda unfair, like, people are living longer, sure, but jobs are way more stressful now. And yeah, if you can wait until age 70, you really do get a lot more monthly cash, but most folks can’t just keep working forever, right?

It feels like they just keep pushing the goalposts, and for us, it’s less money unless we delay retiring. Not cool but I get why they're doing it with all the money troubles Social Security keeps having. Just wish the people making these rules actually knew what it’s like for regular folks.
