Nope, not everyone in Georgia will get their $500 tax refund at the exact same time. I checked with my parents and their friends, and it looks like the Georgia Department of Revenue is sending out the checks in batches. If you already filed your taxes for both 2023 and 2024 and don't owe the state any money, you should get your payment pretty soon. They’re either sending it as a direct deposit if you usually get your refunds that way, or as a paper check in the mail.
But, if you filed your return closer to May 1 or had to file any corrections, you might have to wait a few more weeks. Also, things can get held up if your information doesn't match up or if the state thinks you still owe them money. My neighbor had her refund delayed last year because of a wrong address, so stuff like that can slow things down, too.
So, it's not like everyone wakes up to $500 at the same time. Some people will have to hang tight a little longer, but it's coming for most people who qualify. I totally get being impatient, though!
