Are people in New Orleans supposed to be worried about the inmates who escaped or is this just more news hype?

So, this is honestly the kind of story that would freak me out if I lived there. Like, the news always makes it sound scary, but in this case, people probably should be at least a little nervous. Some of the 10 inmates who escaped in New Orleans were locked up for things like murder, so they're not exactly harmless. That's what sets this apart from just some guys running off for a night of freedom.

I've heard the police told everyone not to help the escapees and to keep an eye out for anything weird. They're protecting witnesses and using tech like facial recognition to track them down, so they're clearly taking it super seriously. But at the same time, escapes like this happen so rarely that most folks probably won't run into these guys on the street. Still, it has to be scary knowing some pretty dangerous people are out and no one knows where they are.

If it were me living in New Orleans right now, I'd be locking my doors for real and paying extra attention to the news. Stuff like this always makes you realize how many things can go wrong when people are asleep at the wheel.
