What’s crazy about this is Nasir Ali isn’t even the only one supposed to go to jail for the scam! Along with him, there was Christian Taylor, who got the exact same sentence (14 years), and even their whole company, Nasaman Oil Services Limited, was in court. But here’s the twist, two other suspects are actually still not caught yet—they’re basically on the run. I’ve always thought it was kind of shady how a few people can pull off huge scams, but it seems like bigger schemes like these usually take a whole group to set up.
Seeing just two people go down while others disappear sometimes makes people feel like justice isn’t complete. I wish the system was better at catching everybody, not just the ones left behind in court. But the fact that they actually managed to convict a couple top-level people is rare, and I hope it scares off more fraudsters in the future. Getting away with this kind of thing shouldn’t be an option anymore, especially with how much money was involved. Let’s see if they ever track down the others!
