The AMVCA 2025 was a star-studded affair that celebrated the best in African entertainment. A couple of standout winners included Gabriel Afolayan bagging Best Supporting Actor and Femi Adebayo taking home Best Lead Actor. Mercy Aigbe was celebrated as Best Supporting Actress, while Chioma Chukwuka snagged the Best Lead Actress award.
Among films, "Lisabi: The Uprising" stole the spotlight with Best Art Direction and "Seven Doors" was lauded for Best Score/Music. There was buzz around “The Man Died” by Awam Amkpa and “Freedom Way” as they each clinched Best Movie awards. What really made my jaw drop was the incredible “Inkabi”, which perfectly executed its Editing and Sound game. 🌟
I was super excited to see Kayode Kasum get the Trailblazer Award — props to him for making such significant contributions to African cinema. Honestly, these folks and their films are setting new standards, right?
