Did Netflix make Dept Q too stretched out compared to other crime shows, or is the nine-episode run actually necessary?

Honestly, the nine episodes of Dept Q felt kinda long to me, but not in a way that made me want to quit watching. Some people online say Netflix just likes making things longer, but I actually liked spending more time with the characters and their stories. The extra episodes let you see more about Carl Morck and his team, not just the main cold case.

I do get why some people would think it’s a bit much, because a tighter, shorter season would make the mystery feel more punchy. But still, I found myself not wanting to skip stuff because the characters have so many layers. Like, the side stories about trauma, family, and corruption might feel like "too much" at first, but it really helps you care about them. I remember wishing some parts moved faster, but at the same time, I really liked how it wasn’t rushed.

So if you like getting invested in characters and not just the case, the long season is actually pretty cool. But yeah, it’s a lot to watch in one go, so just be ready for that!
