Yeah, it's super wild, but Titanic really did send off a lot of lifeboats partially empty. I've read and heard on podcasts that in the chaos when the ship was sinking, some people didn't believe Titanic was actually going down, so they didn't get in the boats right away. Plus, there were rules about 'women and children first,' so groups would wait to fill up, but sometimes the crew just launched the boats to get them away from the ship fast enough.

In one of the Titanic podcasts I listened to, they said the crew was under a ton of pressure and basically freaked out, so they sent off lifeboats only half full. It's super sad, because way more people could've survived if they packed those boats. I remember reading that one lifeboat that could hold like 65 people actually left with less than 30! The film wasn't just being dramatic, it was actually close to how messed up things were that night.
