Yar'Adua's time in office actually made a bit of a difference, mostly with his focus on truth and transparency. What drives people to remember him was that he laid the groundwork for more open elections. I mean, he didn't just leave it at words – he pushed for actual changes.
One cool part was his work with the Niger Delta. It's a big oil place but also super messy with conflict. During his presidency, he launched programs to make peace happen through dialog instead of force. People saw it as a big move towards calming things down.
Of course, no one's perfect, and every leader has their stuff, but you'd be surprised how some leaders seem to care more about doing what's right than just looking cool. It's kinda like cleaning your room without your mom bugging you – ya just do it because it's the right thing to do! Pretty fascinating when you think about it.
