I actually think this dangote diesel theft arraignment is a huge wake-up call for oil companies. My dad used to work in security for an energy company, and he always said that companies only start making big changes once something embarrassing like this hits the news.
Most oil companies used to just trust their logistics and staff, but with so much money and product at stake, I bet they’re gonna tighten up. We’re probably going to see way more cameras at depots, tougher background checks, and maybe even some nerdy tech like smart tracking for tankers. People will be a lot less trusting, and anyone working in oil or transport should be prepared to have someone double-check their work. Honestly, for those honest workers, it’ll probably be annoying, but the companies really have to prove to shareholders and customers that they’re not just letting anyone get away with theft. The dangote case is basically a giant poster saying, 'Make your security better or expect a mess like this!'
