I've actually talked about this with my friends because, like, anytime Ben Cohen is in the news it's never just about ice cream. In my opinion, Ben Cohen's activism is definitely making things tense for Ben & Jerry's business. Their parent company Unilever actually got into a lawsuit with them because Unilever tried to shut down their social activism and even fired their CEO for being too outspoken. From what I've read, Unilever thinks Ben & Jerry's is going too far by taking political stances, especially about things like Gaza or celebrating Black History Month. Some people probably avoid buying their ice cream because they disagree, but I've also seen a lot of people support Ben & Jerry's because of it. So yeah, the activism kind of puts them in hot water, but it also keeps them in the headlines. I personally think it would suck if they stopped caring about stuff just 'cause it's risky for sales.
