Alright, so this uae nigerian extradited interpol situation is kinda wild when you think about it. I used to think if you commit a crime in one country and run to another, you’re pretty much untouchable. But that’s not true at all, especially if Interpol is involved. When a Nigerian is extradited from the UAE, it usually starts with Nigeria’s police requesting help through Interpol, which is like this global cop group linking almost 200 countries. The UAE cops and Interpol’s Abu Dhabi office then work together to track down the person.
What’s kinda cool (or scary, depending on whose side you’re on) is just how fast it can move if it’s a high-profile case—like the one I saw recently where the Dubai Police, Nigerian Consulate, and Interpol Abuja were all working together. Once they find the person, the legal stuff kicks in and there’s a bunch of paperwork and sometimes court hearings before the person actually gets sent back to Nigeria. I used to think international law was slow but in these cases it can go pretty quick thanks to all these agreements between the countries. So yeah, Interpol really brings the heat if you’re wanted across borders. Makes you realize how connected the world’s crime fighters are these days.
