From the updates I’ve sat through, Fortnite servers usually go offline for about two to three hours when there’s a big update. But let me tell you, sometimes it goes way longer than they say! Like today, for update 35.10, Epic said they’d be back up around 11:30 AM, but it took until past 1 PM for most people to get in. It totally messes up your plans if you were hoping to grind some challenges before school or hangout time.
There’s always that 30 minutes before maintenance where they disable matchmaking too, so it’s not even worth trying to sneak in one last match unless you’re cool with getting kicked mid-game. I always check Twitter or sites like Mein-MMO for live updates since they’re usually pretty fast posting when stuff actually goes live. But yeah, if there’s a super big update with crazy features or collabs (like Star Wars stuff), expect things to maybe take longer than they promise. I just try to use the time to watch leaks or eat lunch ha!
