Yeah, if your area just got moved out of band A because of the NERC orders downgrade, you should see your electricity bill drop a bit since the bands are based on how many hours of light you’re supposed to get. Like, my cousin used to complain all the time about paying crazy rates for almost no power, and that was because the company kept listing his area as band A even when he barely got half the hours. But now, if they officially move you to band B or C, your tariff is supposed to be lower, because you’re getting less supply.
But I’m honestly kinda skeptical. Sometimes, these companies make up reasons to add new charges or change the rules, so I’d definitely look at my next bill closely. Also, just because the rate drops doesn’t mean the power gets better. Lots of people say they want cheaper power, but really, everyone just wants to stop buying fuel for generators every week. If you see a big cut in your bill and you’re actually getting what you pay for, I’d call that a win!
