If paul biya really left office suddenly—like, for real, not just some made-up story—I think it’d be a bit of a mess at first. He’s been in charge for so long, most of the people running things have only ever worked under him. There isn’t a clear plan for who should take over or what should change, since he made himself the center of everything.

A lot of people think there would be power struggles between politicians, maybe some military people trying to push in, and probably a lot of protests and arguments in the streets. Cameroon’s already dealing with some heavy stuff, like the Anglophone crisis and the fight with Boko Haram, so a sudden leadership change could make that worse unless people really work together.

I’ve talked to older folks who lived through the last time there was an attempted coup, and they say it was scary and confusing. So, even though some people hope new leadership would fix stuff, it could take a while before things settle down. But I guess there’s also a chance Cameroon could get a fresh start, especially if people focus on real democracy and making things fairer for everyone. You just never really know till it happens.
