You know, I've noticed a lot of my friends and family actually bring up stories they saw on bbchausa.com whenever something major is going down in Nigerian politics. I feel like the site kind of shapes what people talk about, especially political stuff. Since most of the news and opinions on there are about local and African politics, it can totally change how people feel about politicians or even the government itself.
For example, I remember during the last election cycle, everyone was quoting headlines or videos from bbchausa.com, and it got heated! People were debating like crazy, sometimes even arguing at school, because of something they watched there. Since the news is in Hausa, a lot of Northern Nigerians who might miss out on English news can get the info straight up, and that makes it even more influential. But I do worry that sometimes it could push only certain opinions, especially if all my news is coming from one place. Still, I think it's definitely having a real impact on political discussions in Nigeria. Just gotta make sure you're getting facts, not just noise! If you're ever reading news, try to check a few sources.
