Is it a good idea to convert dollars to naira now with how unstable things are in Nigeria, or should I just hold on to my dollars?

Honestly, I'd be super cautious about changing dollars to naira right now. The naira has been dropping like crazy compared to the dollar, and a lot of people I know are kinda stressed about it. Even when I check the rates, like right now it’s around 1578 naira for a single dollar, and it doesn’t look like it’ll get better soon.

Some folks try to exchange their money hoping the naira will get stronger, but in my experience, it usually just means you end up with less value later if the naira keeps falling. Last year, I changed some dollars for naira thinking it couldn't get worse, but it totally did. I kinda wish I’d just waited.

Unless you actually need to spend naira for stuff in Nigeria, like if you’re paying for school or rent, I’d probably hold onto my dollars. Lots of people are hanging onto dollars as a safe bet until things settle down. Unless you feel like you really need naira now, just keep an eye on those rates and be ready to change if something big happens in the market. Maybe talk to someone who does currency trading too—they know a lot about this stuff.
