Is it fair to say Flamengo vs Bayern was always going to be an easy win for Bayern or could Flamengo have actually pulled off an upset since they already beat Chelsea?

Honestly, I don’t get why people are always saying Flamengo vs Bayern was a no-brainer for Bayern to win. I mean, sure, Bayern’s got all these big-name players like Harry Kane and Neuer, but Flamengo’s not some random club either. They literally beat Chelsea 3-1 earlier in the Club World Cup, and anybody who saw that match knows Flamengo can step it up when it matters.

From watching the highlights, Gerson scored and their attack was actually way more dangerous than people think. And yeah, Bayern ended up winning 4-2, but it wasn’t like Flamengo just rolled over or something. They had moments where it felt like they could tie it, and if Pulgar didn’t score that own goal, who knows how the game would’ve gone?

I feel like everyone acts like European teams always beat South American ones, but that’s not totally true in these tournaments. Flamengo was missing a key player after Pulgar’s injury, which definitely made things harder, but they still scored twice against Bayern. In my opinion, Bayern deserved to win that day, but Flamengo were way closer than people give them credit for. Don’t count them out next time.

Why does Brad Pitt keep getting main roles in action-packed movies like F1 even though he's way older than typical Formula One drivers? Is Hollywood stuck on only casting big celebrities no matter what?

It’s not entirely fair to say Flamengo vs Bayern was always going to be an easy win for Bayern.

Here’s why.

Yes, Bayern were clear favorites, due to their squad depth, European competition level, and overall dominance in recent years (like their 2020 UCL win). On paper, they were stronger.

But Flamengo was no pushover.

They were Copa Libertadores champions and had beaten strong teams like Chelsea in the past (as you noted). That shows they had quality, structure, and winning experience.

Football isn’t always predictable. One-off matches can produce surprises, especially if Flamengo played a disciplined tactical game and Bayern had an off day.

While Bayern were likely to win, it’s not accurate to call it an easy win by default. Flamengo pulling off an upset wasn’t the most probable outcome but it was definitely possible.

It’s not entirely fair to say Bayern vs Flamengo was always going to be an easy win for Bayern — that kind of thinking underestimates Flamengo’s potential and ignores how unpredictable football can be.

Let’s break it down:

Why Bayern were clear favorites:

  • Squad depth & quality: Bayern has world-class talent in every position and regularly competes at the highest level in Europe.
  • Tactical consistency: German teams, especially Bayern, are known for discipline, pressing, and fluid attack.
  • Experience: Bayern is used to high-pressure global matches.

⚠️ But why Flamengo could have pulled off an upset:

  • Momentum matters: If Flamengo had just beaten Chelsea, they’d be high on confidence.
  • South American flair: Brazilian teams like Flamengo often have unpredictable attacking styles that can trouble structured European teams.
  • Single-match format: In one-off finals (like Club World Cup), upsets happen. It’s not a league — it’s about who performs on the day.

Final thought: While Bayern would be expected to win 9 times out of 10, it’s that 1 in 10 chance that makes football exciting — and Flamengo, with the right momentum and discipline, could definitely have made it tough or even pulled off a shock.

So no, it wasn’t guaranteed to be easy.

  1. It wouldn’t be fair to say Bayern vs Flamengo was “always” going to be an easy win—football isn’t that predictable.

  2. Bayern were definitely the stronger squad on paper, with more depth and experience.

  3. But Flamengo were a well-coached, high-intensity team capable of surprising big European sides.

  4. Beating a club like Chelsea (even if in a different era or context) shows Brazilian teams aren’t pushovers.

  5. An upset was unlikely, but absolutely possible—just not the expected outcome

Yes, the AIK vs IFK Göteborg derby can be overhyped at times. Some seasons, both clubs struggle with form, making the match less intense than expected. Tactical caution also reduces excitement, as neither side wants to risk losing a big rivalry game. Injuries, squad rebuilds, or off-field issues can further dim the drama fans hope for each year.

Flamengo in recent years — especially under Jorge Jesus in 2019 — were exceptional by South American standards:

Won the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Série A in the same season.

Had stars like Gabigol, Bruno Henrique, Gerson, Éverton Ribeiro, and Arrascaeta.

Played a very European-style, high-pressing attacking football.

They showed they could hang with top European teams when they pushed Liverpool to extra time in the 2019 Club World Cup final — losing narrowly 1–0.

So, beating Chelsea in a one-off match (if you’re referring to that sort of result) wasn’t impossible; Flamengo at their best could absolutely cause trouble.

Restaurant prices rise faster because they include labor, rent, energy, and service costs that have all gone up more sharply than raw food prices. Groceries only reflect ingredient costs, so increases stay smaller. By 2025, many restaurants face higher wages and operating expenses, pushing menus up. It feels less affordable, but the price gap reflects the true cost of prepared service.
