Honestly, I keep asking myself this too! Like, does the FCT Water Board really have to cut water off everywhere just to add new equipment? It just feels like maybe with a bit more planning or money they could keep things running, at least a little bit. A friend of mine whose uncle works with utilities said sometimes you can switch from one section to another or do repairs at night, but it all costs more cash and needs more high-tech gear.

Thing is, the FCT probably doesn't have all the fancy backup systems, and the Water Board might just be working with what they've got. I wish they'd tell us if they even looked at other options, though. Blocking water for millions of us for two weeks is wild. It makes you wonder where all the budget for infrastructure updates goes. If water was a private business here, I bet they'd find a way to avoid shutting off so many customers all at once, 'cause they'd quickly go broke. I get that fixing the system is important, but I think there's gotta be a better way sooner or later.
