Honestly, this is something I actually argue about with my mates all the time. Yeah, Belgium hasn’t lost a qualifier in 42 games, which is kind of insane, but when you see them almost throw away a 3-0 lead against Wales, you start wondering how useful that stat really is. Like, yeah, it proves they are consistent, but almost losing to a team they were supposed to dominate makes you question how strong they actually are right now.
I remember back in the day, everyone hyped up streaks, but now it feels like people care more about how the team actually plays, not just the numbers. If Belgium keeps scraping through games like this, maybe the streak doesn’t mean they’re as unbeatable as it sounds. For me, it’s cooler seeing teams show real fight, like Wales did, than just racking up stats. I think it puts pressure on Belgium too, ‘cause everyone wants to be the team that finally beats them.
