Actually, yeah, that famous moment with the Titanic's band playing while everything was chaos really happened. I've always thought that part in the film was super dramatic, but apparently, some survivors said the band played almost until the very end. They wanted to keep people calm, which is honestly kinda inspiring and also heartbreaking at the same time.
There are arguments about what song they played last—some people swear it was 'Nearer, My God, to Thee,' and others say it was a different tune. But everyone seems to agree that the musicians kept playing as things got more and more intense. I heard on a podcast that the band members didn't even try to save themselves because they figured their music might help others not freak out so much. It's just one of those rare things in a disaster that shows how people can be super brave in the worst situations. Makes sense why the movie kept that part in, right?
