I've always wondered about stuff like this, especially with politics in Nigeria. When an Akwa Ibom commissioner resigns after the governor switches parties, it can be pretty dramatic. Basically, all the people working directly under the governor have to decide if they're loyal to him or to their own beliefs. From what I've seen and read, like this time when Governor Umo Eno left the PDP for APC, a few commissioners straight up resigned because they didn't want to join the new party.
I think it definitely shakes things up. Imagine your boss suddenly changes the main team you all support! Some people just can't stick around if they disagree with the new direction, and government work gets delayed while they find replacements. For local projects, like roads or school improvements, this means things might stall until a new commissioner is in place. It kind of makes me think how important loyalty and principles are in politics. Some folks go wherever the power is, but others stick to what they believe is right, even if it means losing their job.
I respect people like Ini Ememobong who resigned because they stood by their beliefs. It’s not easy, and it does show how personal politics can be.
