Oh man, this N20 million scandal with Lere Olayinka is such a hot mess right now. So basically, after Lere Olayinka went after Reuben Abati and got under his skin, Rufai Oseni (who's pretty outspoken on TV) fired back on air and brought up an old allegation that Olayinka was involved in a N20 million corruption scandal. No one really dropped all the receipts or clear evidence, though. It's more like this thing people throw around to trash each other’s reputation.
People are split because, honestly, these kinds of accusations happen all the time in Nigerian politics and media, but they’re hardly ever properly investigated or resolved. Some folks believe Olayinka messed up, while others think Oseni was just trying to get back at him and distract from his own issues. For me, it feels like a giant clapback contest with zero focus on the actual truth.
I've seen a lot of people on social media saying it proves that both the media and politicians in Nigeria are messed up, and everyone has skeletons in their closet. This whole saga just makes it more obvious that personal attacks get way more attention than real facts, which kind of sucks if you actually care about the truth.
