So, the Met Office in the United Kingdom really does use tons of personal info when you go on their site. When I tried checking the weather for my city, I noticed they ask about cookies and stuff right away. From what I read, they use your data to change up the content you see, figure out whether ads are working, and see if what they post is any good. They even use those details to build reports about what people like but don't actually make a whole profile about you or stalk you from site to site.

I've found that sometimes it's nice because you get more relevant info faster—but it's kinda weird knowing that so much is being tracked every time you click something. You're given choices, though, to allow or shut off some of the data sharing, so at least they're upfront about it. I kinda like seeing the option to just take the weather info and not get bombarded by ads that know everything about me. It's a little freaky, but at least with UK law, they're forced to be honest about it!
