Honestly, the university staff union is like a big group support system for people who work at schools or universities. My uncle's a librarian at one and he joined the union last year. He told me they helped him get better health insurance and a pay raise when costs went up. Staff unions don't just fight for pay—they can also protect workers from unfair managers, help make sure rules are followed, and sometimes even step in if someone's in trouble at work. Plus, they set up meetings where workers can say what's bothering them. My uncle said there are also mental health programs and stuff to help people with stress. I used to think unions were just old school, but now I see they're actually super important for making sure staff aren't treated badly. Honestly, stuff might be kinda rough for workers without unions backing them up.
