Honestly, it's wild how things have gotten this far with the AEDC electricity workers. The whole reason they're threatening this strike is because their demands have straight up been ignored for ages. They're super frustrated about stuff like working for 16 to 18 months with their pension money being deducted, but never actually sent to their retirement funds. I mean, imagine money coming out of your paycheck every month but nobody's booking it for your future!
They also haven't even gotten the minimum wage everyone was promised, and a bunch of workers say they haven't had promotions or proper bonuses in over ten years. Some people have been stuck acting in a higher role with no raise or nothing. Plus, there are complaints about terrible working conditions, unpaid hospital bills, and even reports that several staff have died recently because healthcare is so bad.
It kills me because AEDC's revenue apparently went way up lately, but none of that has trickled down to the people doing the actual work. The unions just want the company to finally deliver fair pay and safer jobs. If you ask me, striking is kind of the only way left for them to get heard, since management keeps stalling. If this blackout happens, that's totally on the people at the top.
