So, people ask all the time what Akin Alabi has really done for Egbeda and Ona-Ara since he started at the National Assembly. To be real, a lot of politicians talk big but don’t actually do much, so it’s smart to be skeptical.
From what I’ve seen and heard, he’s been visible, with projects like bursaries for students, some support for small businesses, and all those social media stunts where he shows up at events. There’s also been talk of him giving out school materials and sponsoring people for skills programs, which is cool, but it's hard to tell if it’s enough when the issues are so massive (like schools and roads needing more work, and lots of young people still not having jobs).
People I talk to have mixed reactions. Some say he’s better than the last rep and at least you see him around or hear from him online. Others are like, all this visibility doesn’t replace real development. Personally, I think if you’re gonna be in office, you should be making huge changes, not just doing the minimum. So, while he’s done more than some, I don’t know if people are truly satisfied. There’s a lot more to do, and anyone in politics is gonna get called out if they don't step up.
