If you're thinking about starting a business in Croatia, I'd say you have to be ready for some struggles. The first thing I've heard from people is that government paperwork can feel endless, like, way more than what you'd expect in some other EU countries. You've got to be patient with all the forms and random regulations.
Also, while tourism is huge, it's not always steady, so if your business is tied to that, there might be good years and bad years. And even though costs are lower, sometimes it feels like there’s not enough funding from local banks or investors, so you really have to hustle to get the cash you need to grow.
I had a cousin who tried to open a cafe in Split, and he said just getting permits took almost a year! But once he was up and running, he loved the community feel.
So yeah, it’s not impossible, but if you wanna make it in Croatia, you need patience and maybe some extra coffee to keep you going through those long lines at government offices.
