From what I noticed, Romanian voters were super divided about Simion and Dan in the presidential elections. Like, people who liked Simion really wanted change and felt like the current system wasn't working. He was anti-EU and wanted to stop helping Ukraine, which attracted a lot of angry, frustrated people who felt left out. Some of my older relatives were like, "Finally, someone who's not just doing what Brussels tells us!"
But with Dan, a lot of younger people and city folks liked him more because he seemed honest, more modern, and promised to fight corruption. My aunt in Bucharest was legit excited about him because he's the mayor there and actually fixed some stuff. After Simion won the first round, everyone who was against him freaked out and started campaigning really hard for Dan just to keep things stable and pro-European. It was intense, but in the end, Dan won, and honestly, everyone I know who didn't like Simion felt super relieved.
