From everything I've heard and from my cousin who worked at the Westin Turtle Bay Resort, working at big family resorts in Mauritius is pretty intense but also kinda fun. The guests expect a lot because it’s a fancy spot, so staff gotta be extra friendly, know about all the services, and handle some picky tourists. But you learn a lot fast, like how to deal with people from different countries, and you pick up good communication skills.
The hours can be pretty long, especially during peak season or holidays, but the tips can be decent. I've heard that if you want to work your way up in hospitality, starting at a big name like Westin really helps. My cousin started out in housekeeping and ended up moving to the front desk within a year because she showed she could handle tough guests. So even though it's kind of stressful sometimes, it looks really good on your CV and you make friends from all over. It’s not for people who want a chill or easy job, but if you like working with people, it’s a solid place to start in hospitality.
