Whenever the fg declares public holidays, I’ve noticed some people get crazy creative with what they do. Instead of the usual stuff like watching movies or sleeping all day, I’ve seen friends start weird hobbies out of nowhere. Last Eid break, my neighbor suddenly became obsessed with gardening—like, she went out, bought a bunch of tiny plants, and by the end of the weekend, her balcony looked like a mini forest.

Other people get into stuff like origami (one of my friends made a full paper zoo), or even learn tricks for games like chess or rubik’s cube because “it felt different” to do something offbeat. I know a guy who actually made a habit of cycling at dawn during holidays because the roads were empty.

Honestly, public holidays from the fg feel like those rare chances you get to try dumb but fun things without worrying about school or chores. Yeah, most people just relax, but there’s always a few who get oddly motivated and discover hobbies they never expected. I think that’s pretty cool—it’s like random holiday magic.
