I’ve wondered this myself because after he stopped being the national security adviser, he didn’t just go chill somewhere. Zbigniew Brzezinski basically kept trying to influence U.S. politics by joining CSIS, which is this think tank where experts and big deal people try to give advice about global strategy. For over thirty years, he wrote tons of books and articles, gave speeches, and did TV interviews. He also mentored lots of younger foreign policy folks—my uncle says he even saw Brzezinski at a conference once, just grilling people with hard questions. So, he used his power and connections to keep pushing his opinions about Russia, China, and all the hot spots. Some people said he kind of liked being the behind-the-scenes thinker instead of an official in government, because then he could say what he wanted. All in all, Brzezinski was basically working non-stop at CSIS to make sure his voice stayed part of the big debates in America.
