Oh man, this Eurovision was full of surprises! The biggest shock for me was how Estonia’s Tommy Cash almost beat Israel for second place—he was just one point behind. Nobody at my school saw that coming because everyone was talking about Sweden’s sauna-themed act being the favorite. Sweden landing in fourth was wild too!

Also, I never thought the crowd at Eurovision would be so split, but seeing protests happen right during Israel’s performance and people waving Palestinian flags was not what I usually expect on a music night. Then there was the paint-throwing incident with two protesters—they were taken away by the cops—and the fact that flag rules were relaxed for the first time in ages.

Austria winning again after all these years was kind of sweet because their last win was with Conchita Wurst, who JJ actually looks up to. Plus, even though JJ only placed fifth in his semi-final, he still won the grand final. That’s so unexpected! Altogether, the Eurovision results were just wild this year and people are probably still arguing about it in online groups.
