Okay, the wildest part about the f1 visa news today is that now they're making everyone set their social media accounts to public when they apply. Like, that's so personal! I get that they wanna double-check people for safety and all that, but now visa officers are scrolling through your Instagram and TikTok before deciding if you get to go to college in the US. And it's not just new students—anyone reapplying has to do it too. I remember when I was prepping for my student visa interview, I was more stressed about my grades and the paperwork, not about what funny memes I posted last year. Honestly, it just feels pretty awkward that those random posts could end up in your official record. They're checking for stuff like antisemitic posts or support for terrorism, which makes sense from a security side, but, like, what if they read something out of context? The government says finding something weird won't automatically get you rejected, but with all the extra steps, I bet it'll be slower and maybe a bit unfair. If you're worried, maybe double-check your feeds! Visa stuff is stressful enough without thinking about every picture or comment you shared.
