People can't stop talking about Julius Malema and the whole Kill the Boer thing because it's just exploded into this massive talking point, not just in South Africa but across the world. What grabbed a lot of attention is how Malema keeps defending this old struggle song, which he says is about fighting apartheid, but a ton of people (especially farmers and Afrikaners) see it as something that threatens them right now. So when Donald Trump used Malema's speeches to blast South Africa's president and basically called out the country for not arresting Malema, it brought all this drama into the spotlight again.
In my opinion, part of the crazy attention is because people outside Africa don't always get the history, and hearing about chants like that makes them jump to wild conclusions. Plus, with Trump being involved and countries like the UK even banning Malema just recently, it's become headline news. I get why some folks are upset, but I've found that others see Malema as standing up for land reform that’s way overdue. No matter what you think, it feels like Julius Malema knows exactly how to stir the pot and keep people talking.
