Honestly, I think the anime awards 2025 winners just set off a giant wave of drama online because a lot of fans disagreed with who actually deserved it. It's wild how passionate anime fans can get, especially when their favorite shows or characters lose out to something they think is overhyped or just doesn't match their taste. For example, with Crunchyroll's Anime Awards every year, there's always this split. Some folks are pumped when a popular show like Attack on Titan snags a win, but others say it's just mainstream bias and smaller, underrated shows get shafted.
I've seen a ton of posts where people are straight-up mad that Dandadan swept some categories, saying it should've gone to something "deeper" or "more artistic". It gets even crazier if voice actor awards go to someone not everyone agrees with. Honestly, this kind of drama just shows how personal anime is for people. Everyone wants their taste validated by the big award shows. I think it's healthy as long as nobody's outright harassing others, but it definitely makes those award shows way more intense to watch. When your fave loses, it stings, but half the fun is arguing your case online!
