Oh yeah, the amazon class action lawsuit everyone is buzzing about lately is actually a pretty big deal if you care about your privacy. So, what happened is some people are accusing Amazon of collecting really exact location info (like where you are down to the neighborhood or even street) using their apps, and then supposedly selling or sharing this info with other companies. It’s not just like, vague whereabouts, but actual geolocation stuff tied to your phone. That honestly feels kinda creepy to me!
The lawsuit claims Amazon didn’t get clear permission from users for this, and that could break laws that are supposed to keep our sensitive info private. From what I’ve seen, people are pretty mad because nobody really expected a shopping app to track them like that. Now, lawyers are trying to get everyone who might’ve gotten tracked and had their data sold together in a giant class action suit. If it goes through, Amazon could have to stop these shady practices and pay up for damages. Feels like we spend all this time worrying about social media watching us, but even places we shop at aren’t playing fair. Kinda wild, right? If you ask me, people deserve to know exactly what apps are doing with their info.
