Honestly, I'm just as confused as everyone else about why Amazon canceled Wheel of Time after only three seasons. The show actually had a big following, was in Nielsen's Top 10 for a while, and got pretty good feedback from fans and critics. I've spent hours reading fan theories and Instagram posts about it, and even the showrunner, Rafe Judkins, said he's not sure why it happened.
A lot of people are saying it's probably about money or Amazon wanting to focus on some other expensive shows, like James Bond stuff. It kind of sucks because you could tell the creators and actors really cared, and there was so much left to do with the story—it's based on a giant book series! To me, it feels like streaming services just bail on long shows now if they aren't breaking records every second. Even though there was still so much left to tell, the studio just decided to call it quits. Super frustrating for the fans and the entire team, honestly. I hope another network thinks it's worth picking up, but I’m not holding my breath.
