Honestly, I didn’t expect Metz to pull off a win like that over Reims in such a huge playoff game, but they totally deserved it. From what I saw and read, Metz just brought way more energy and focus, especially in the second half. Their midfield worked super hard, breaking up attacks and starting quick counters. I remember Metz scoring three times, which was kinda wild considering how much pressure was on both teams. Reims had their chances, but like that missed header by John Patrick, they just couldn’t finish when it really mattered.
A lot of people assumed Reims would have the home advantage at Stade Auguste Delaune, but Metz’s fans showed up big, and their players looked determined not to mess up. It's kind of a lesson that playoffs are never as easy to predict as people think. Basically, Metz were just more clinical and handled the crazy atmosphere way better. I think this kind of upset just makes football even cooler. If I’m being honest, it was one of those matches where the underdog comes out on top and proves everyone wrong.
