So here's the thing, a lot of people in Rivers State were freaking out about the political chaos. Governor Fubara was even suspended, and it felt like the state was gonna fall apart with all the drama between rival politicians. President Tinubu stepped in with emergency rule because, according to officials, things were about to spiral into total chaos—like, "almost anarchy" as they put it.
But honestly, I kinda question if it had to get that far. I've seen drama in Nigerian politics before and sometimes it's all just a power struggle. Some folks think Tinubu used the emergency rule to take control and calm things down, but others say it was more about the ruling party (APC) squeezing out opposition and making Rivers an easier win for them in the future. Fubara himself thanked Tinubu for restoring peace, so who knows, maybe it worked out better than if things had exploded. Still, part of me wonders if it was an excuse for more federal control—I've seen this play out before. Whatever side you fall on, it was a pretty bold move by Tinubu and definitely got everyone talking. Just my two cents!
