Honestly, it’s kinda true that people get pretty intense about Christopher Reeve being the only real Superman. I think a lot of it is ‘cause his movies were, like, the first real big Superman films in color, with good special effects and the epic John Williams music. My mom always says he just had the right look and attitude for Superman—he was humble as Clark Kent and confident as Superman.
But I think some people just stick with what they grew up with, so if you watched Reeve as a kid, you might just think of him first. It’s a little unfair since guys like Henry Cavill brought a new style and made Superman less of a boy scout. I think every Superman is different and brings something new, but people always remember their first superhero, and for so many, that was Chris Reeve. I get the nostalgia, but there’s space for more than one version—I even like Cavill’s Superman sometimes because he just looks so strong all the time!
In the end, it’s just people loving what feels familiar to them. But, don’t let it stop you from loving your favorite Superman, whatever anybody else says!
